Job Description:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Agriculture Trainer to contribute to Project C331003, which focuses on supporting climate-friendly sustainable development in a rural community in the semiarid region of Sinjar-Ninawa, North Iraq. The Agriculture Trainer will play a crucial role in overseeing and implementing activities related to sustainable agriculture, specifically in the areas of land planning, irrigation, and community capacity building.
Key Responsibilities:
Land Planning and Sustainable Agriculture:
• Coordinate the planning of 200m² agricultural plots for 45 families in Khatara Village-Sinuni.
• Manage stages of planning, including planting techniques, seed species selection, and sharing agricultural experiences.
• Implement the use of Agrobiogel product for 45 crops, aiming to reduce water consumption and improve plant survival during droughts.
Irrigation Management:
• Oversee the installation of irrigation ditches/pipelines using 16mm plastic water pipes for 9000m² of vegetable gardens.
• Ensure the proper distribution of irrigation components for each family, as outlined in the provided description.
• Supervise the efficient use of resources to meet the irrigation needs of the vegetable gardens.
Community Capacity Building through Training:
• Train 45 women in the management of vegetable gardens, emphasizing the application and benefits of Agrobiogel.
• Conduct practical sessions in the field, closely observing and following up on gardens during all implementation stages.
• Organize and conduct three training courses for 45 focal points over three months.
• Provide comprehensive training on agroecology principles, emphasizing sustainable farming practices.
• Illustrate success through practical examples and encourage the use of ecological concepts in agriculture.
Tree Planting Campaign:
• Lead the planting trees campaign in 20 locations with 45 trained focal points.
• Collaborate with local administration to select environmentally suitable tree species.
• Ensure the successful planting of 1000 trees in public areas, promoting environmental awareness and community engagement.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's or advanced degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, or related field.
• Proven experience in sustainable agriculture practices and training programs.
• Knowledge of irrigation systems, land planning, and agroecology principles.
• Excellent communication and training skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse community members.
• Previous experience in tree planting campaigns is desirable.
